Manager / Assessor, National Multiple-Use Approvals Service

The Department of Building and Housing is establishing a new service to achieve time efficiencies and cost-savings to ‘volume builders’, where their standardised building designs are replicated several times. The National Multiple-Use Approvals (NMUA) service will provide volume builders with ‘pre-approval’ for Building Code compliance, through assessing their designs against the Code and creating a seamless service between the Department’s approvals and local consenting processes. This initiative has been introduced as a direct result of industry requests.

We need a Manager / Assessor to lead this new service, taking ownership of the NMUA scheme, its goals and success. This is a third tier role, with responsibility for performance outcomes, leadership of a small team, business development, and hands-on assessment work.

Along with your ability and credibility in the sector and your strong understanding of the Building Act and the building consents process, you will be technically proficient at assessing building designs for Code compliance – and able to ensure excellence across your team in achieving this. In addition, you will have the drive and leadership to deliver a significant work programme, combined with a track record of success achieved through effective staff management and stakeholder engagement.

In return, you will have the opportunity to lead and influence cost-effective and streamlined building consent processes, the authority and accountability to carry out your role, and the satisfaction of interesting and challenging work with a range of strategic relationships across the sector. You will also be working in an organisation committed to your development as a leader.
