Promoting building industry change (fixed term contract)
Big changes are coming to the building and construction sector, and effective communication will be fundamental to making them work. If you are motivated hands- on communications expert who gets things done, this is your chance to run a significant two and a half year communications campaign.
The Licensed Building Practitioner Scheme means that from 2012, for the first time, the people doing the critical work designing and building New Zealand’s homes will have to be licensed.
Your task is to persuade the nation’s designers and builders that now is the time to sign up. Consumer choice plays a vital part as well, so you will also be explaining to the public why they should engage a licensed builder and what they are entitled to expect.
There isn’t a big budget to throw at this, so you’ll need to be skilled at generating media coverage, getting third parties to spread the word and knowing how to make the best use of the web. Working with and leveraging our excellent stakeholder relationships within the building industry and with consumer groups will be fundamental to your success.
Previous experience of working with industry and/or the central or local government sector, and knowledge of the building and construction sector would be an advantage. Your ability to translate technical material into plain English will also be important.
